West Maui was known in the past as a large agricultural area, which contribute in large to Maui's economy. Although it has changed and developed in a different way, it remains a large contributor to Maui's economy. In this busy part of Maui, homes are in great demand, and residents enjoy a variety of activities and beautiful panoramic views. Today, West Maui real estate is comprised of oceanfront condos, resorts, hotels, the desirable West Maui homes, golf properties, golf courses, all amongst gorgeous beaches. It includes the towns of Olowalu, Lahaina, Napili, Kahana, Honokowai, Kaanapali, and Kapalua, all coastal communities.
West Maui is a sunny coast that used to be a vacation retreat for the Hawaiian royalty. In West Maui, you will find many types of amenities such as shops and resorts. While in west Maui, you can explore the historical town of Lahaina. If you want to watch the whales, you can visit the Lahaina Harbor. From the Lahaina Harbor, you can take a sunset cruise. Golf courses can be found in Kapalua. Most of the large resorts are located at Kaanapali. Lahaina has lots of entertainment sites. The Lahaina Harbor is the launch site for many snorkeling boat tours. You can watch whales at the harbor. It can be hard to find a parking space in Lahaina. There are some free parking spaces at the Front Street. You can only park your car for a maximum of three hours in the parking lot.
If you are sating on Wailea, you can spend some time to drive to West Maui and explore the tourist attractions there. A perfect snorkeling spot called Coral Gardens can be found on mile marker 14 on the Pali Highway. Coral Gardens have light brown sandy shore. The reef at this beach extends to about 0.25 miles. The water will become clearer and clearer as you keep on swimming in the ocean. You will also start to see many fishes and colorful corals when snorkeling in the water of Coral Gardens Beach. You must take extra precaution when stopping at the highway because there is a lot of traffic. Car accidents also happen frequently in this place.
When traveling to Lahaina, you will pass by the Oluwalu village. The Oluwalu village has a small store that sells general merchandise. The Chez Paul restaurant is a famous restaurant that offers French cuisines. Nearby the area, you will find a dirt road that leads into the sugar cane fields. If you follow the dirt road, you will come to a place that showcases many ancient petroglyphs.
You can visit Kaanapali while in west Maui. Kaanapali is famous for the white sandy beach. There are many upscale hotels at Kaanapali such as Sheraton resort. The Whaler Village is a large shopping center in Kaanapali. You can perform all kinds of snorkeling activities at Black Rock. The water at Black Rock is calm throughout the year. Occasionally, you can see the manta ray and turtles swimming in the beach. Another nearby town is Kapalua. Kapalua is well known for the plantation golf course.
