This is one area in Maui that is in high demand for real estate. You can find here plantation style homes and luxury homes and condominiums with ocean views, which are very desirable. This town is full of history and dates back to 1800, being the home of many kings and Hawaiian chiefs, as well as a popular seaport. It is known as the Jewel in the crown of Maui for this reason.

Due to its history and major attractions such as art galleries, nightclubs, cafes, waterfront restaurants, gift shops and boutiques, it has become one place that is favorite of many vacationers and tourists. You can start exploring Lahaina at the Banyan Tree at the courthouse building. The banyan tree at the courthouse building is the largest and tallest in Hawaii. The sheriff of Maui named William O. Smith originally planted it. Smith planted the tree because he wants to commemorate the anniversary of the Christian mission. The tree is about 50 feet tall. If you observe the banyan tree, you will find that it has 12 large trunks. The trees shade covers about 2/3 of the Courthouse Square

In Lahaina, there are many buildings made from timber at the oceanfront street. You will also notice many coconut palm trees. Lahaina used to be the capital of the Hawaii Kingdom in the 19th century. However, today, it is a quiet tropical village that receives a small amount of tourist’s very year. The most important tourist attraction is the Lahaina Beach. If you want to observe the scenery of the faraway island, you can stand go to the Lahaina Beach and look out from there. From the Lahaina beach, you can observe the Lanai Island. Ferry rental is available to visitors at a small fee. You can take a ferry from the Lahaina beach to the Lanai Island. There are 6 sailing catamarans ready to fetch tourists to the Lanai. The excursion boat is called Discover. There are about five ferry expeditions daily at the Lahaina Harbor. The catamaran will arrive at the Hulopoe Beach. If you enroll in the Discover Kaanapali tour package, you will get to participate in recreational activities such as sailing, snorkeling and etc. The cost of taking a one-way ferry trip is $25.

There are several pristine beaches in Lahaina including Kaanapali Beach, Papalaua Wayside, Ukumehame Beach County Park, Olowalu, Launiupoko Wayside Park, Puamana Beach Park, Kamehameha Iki Park, Lahaina Harbor, and Hanaka’o’o Beach Park. Papalaua Wayside is a long narrow beach frequently visited by local people. At the Papalaua Wayside beach, there are many ironwood trees. The Ukumehame Beach County Park is situated in the middle of highway tunnel and Olowalu. Olowalu beach is located near to the pineapple stand at the Maui roadside. Occasionally, you can observe sharks at the Oolowalu beach. The Launiupoko Wayside Park is located about 3 miles from the southern region of Lahaina Town. The beach at Launiupoko Wayside Park offers shaded grassy area.
