This is an overview of Maui's most important desirable locations as well as a small description of the towns that comprise the north, south, east, and west areas. Maui is one of the most beautiful of the Hawaiian Islands and one that tourists and real estate investors visit the most. It has much to offer and its topography, climate, and year round conditions offer a variety of climates ideal for attracting a variety of buyers and investors. One thing is for sure, there is a real estate opportunity for every buyer's taste and the different areas in the north, south, east, and west, offer a viable budget opportunity for many buyers to acquire a piece of paradise. Whether you like a busy area or a secluded paradise, the island offers them both and something in between as well.
The Island offers diversity in all the seven divisions found on the Island, which is also known as the ‘The Magic Isle’. Each of the seven regions is different when it comes to their geography, climate, residents and the tourists. The differences of each region are what make it special and unique. Still, you can still find several similarities from all of them. One commonality you will find is their natural glamour and beauty. These seven places, collectively known as magic isle, are Hana, South Shore, Lahaina, North Shore, Central Maui, Upcountry and West Maui.
Because of its strategic location, Central area is often the preferred location. It is at the heart and center on the island. Maui’s commercial and industrial civic centers are the two major towns – Wailuku and Kahului. In Wailuku, you’ll find the country and state government offices. This is also where the hospital is located. Aside from these necessary establishments, there is also an old downtown area, which is full of inherent local charm. This downtown area is very attractive because it is quite near the business area. On the other side is Kahului. This area is where you’ll find the main port and airport. The Cultural Arts Center is also located here. Aside from these, you will also find excellent shopping malls. The properties in this area also have one of the amazing views of the North Shore and Haleakala.
Small plantation style cottages to beach front multi-million dollar mansions are the selections homes in Lahaina. Known as the “the jewel in the crown” of Maui, Lahaina is one of the most visited spot.
The East side/ Hana area is one of lush and tropical. Hana is a tropical paradise separated from the rest of the island. It is the last underdeveloped placed. Here you’ll still find virgin rainforests, beautiful vivid rainbows and magnificent waterfalls, sand beaches and the east side of Haleakala. The slow pacing of the time here makes this place really calm and special.
Because of its location, North Shore is considered as one of Hawaii’s most wanted areas. Also, North Shore is home to the biggest wave surfing. One of the most amazing big wave spot is the town of Haiku, which is also the origination of “Jaws”.
North Shore towns are filled of Hawaiian charm. To name a few of the North Shore towns, they are Sprekelsville, Paia and Kuau. For over 30 years, the area has been “the” place of lots of artists and free spirits. The natural beauty found here, such as the cooling trade winds, pineapples and sugar cane fields, make this place so attractive to other people.
The Gold Coast, or otherwise known as the South Shore, is a very different and unique part of Hawaii. It offers a diverse range of selections especially when it comes to real estate. Found in the dusk of Haleakala, Kihei is considered as one of the sunniest places on the island. The stretch of the coast offers very beautiful beaches.
Elevated from 1,000 to 4,000 feet, Upcountry is located on the flanks of Haleakala. The towns of Upcountry are Makawao, Olinda, Pukalani and Kula. These towns have such spectacular views and beautiful weather. From here, you may see the north and south shores of the island.
The houses in Kihei range from small, “starter” homes to big multi million dollar beachfront properties. The variety of homes, together with the climate and abundance of activities in the area, Kihei is definitely popular among residents and second homebuyers.
On the other hand, the South Shore area of Makena/Wailea brings the life of luxury and glamour. Here, Maui real estate offers an amazing resort life style coupled with very difficult golf courses, first class shopping, fine dining and beautiful beaches. Moreover, the place also includes amazing condos and residential on the island. This area is located at the southwest side of Haleakala.
Then, you’ll find the west side. This place is home to one of the most beautiful forests on the western Mountains. In addition, it also has manicured golf courses, white sand beaches, pineapple fields and amazing blue bays. The bays and beaches found in Kaanapali are definitely amazing to see. As for the activities, you may swim, snorkel and do other water activities. The homes in Kaanapali are very popular and in demand. Kahana, Honokawai, Kapalua and Napili are also the other towns located in the area.
Maui real estate is very diverse yet remains beautiful. Still, if you’re looking for paradise, you definitely find it in some part of the island.
