About Kauai

If you have not been to Kauai, you have not seen one of the world’s top ranking tropical destinations. In fact, it is just as popular as the world renowned Bora Bora, Rarotonga and Huahine. It is filled with grand cliffs and imposing rainforests; you get to feel the breezy tropical air and the smell of flowers; and as an added bonus, you will be able to hear the birds singing on top of the trees everywhere. Miles and miles of golden beaches line the coast of Kauai. It is truly a paradise island.

One of the amazing things about Kauai is that it rises 3 miles above the ocean floor. It is located only 90 miles away from Oahu but it seems like it has a world of its own. It took so long before this island garden was united with the rest of the islands in Hawaii because for many decades, it stood its ground and firmly said no to unification. Story has it that King Liholiho had to entice the king of Kauai, Kaumalii to ride on board the royal yacht and was then forced to get married to one of the royal women of Hawaii, which sealed the unity of the islands.

In its efforts to preserve its natural surroundings and lush greeneries, the Kauai government prohibits the construction of a building that is taller than a coconut tree, so most of the buildings here are only about 3 to 4 stories high. Nightlife is not so popular on this island; large shopping malls and majestic hotels are something you cannot find in this side of Hawaii.

But for people who love adventures, this is the place to be. There are numerous watersports activities available; the rainforests and cliffs are ideal for bikers, hikers and mountain climbers. Golf is also quite famous around here, with lots of championship events being held yearly. Relaxation is also one of its strongest features. It is the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city life; to de-stress and rejuvenate. Miles and miles of sandy beaches, spectacular views of the jungles and the magnificent coastlines make it a great place to just sit down and take all your worries and tension away.
