A subdivision of Kaimuki, Kapahulu is situated on the bustling Kapahulu Avenue. Homes here are generally single and multi family houses with the odd smaller apartment buildings mixed in as well. Kapahulu stretches in the direction of Waikiki, and the avenue is full of numerous stores, restaurants and various different service providers; the residential area is largely situated on both sides of the main street. Because it is an older area, Kapahulu houses several restaurants and cafes that have been popular amongst locals for several decades, including the well known Rainbow Drive Inn, the iconic Leonard's Bakery, as well as Waiola Shave Ice. There are also plenty of newer venues to enjoy, such as Burgers on the Edge and Wasabi & Nadaman. Eateries here come in every different style and ethnicity imaginable, with price tags to suit everyone. When it comes to local services there are a plethora available to residents, from vets and tailors, stores selling shoes and diving gear, along with Safeway, this biggest chain store in Hawaii.
