Guide to Waikiki Aquarium

Waikiki Aquarium is a must visit place in Waikiki. It is the first aquarium that offers exhibitions on South Pacific corals. The Coral Farm exhibit is equipped with advanced propagation facility to protect the coral colonies. Many animals that are exhibited at the Waikiki Aquarium are rare.  If you visit the aquarium, you will be able to increase your knowledge on the marina creatures.

Waikiki aquarium offers the exhibitions in several large aquariums. You will get to see various types of Hawaiian coral reefs. The coral reefs exhibited in this area are young and rare. You can also observe coral reefs from the west region and south pacific region. The Galleries at the Aquarium Exhibit offers exhibition on marine lives from the tropical Pacific region. You can view a wide range of marine animals in different habitats. The Edge of the Reef Exhibit provides a clear view of 5 types of shorelines in Hawaii. You will be able to view colorful fish in this 7,500 aquarium such as yellow tang, crosshatch triggerfish, parrotfish and threadfin butterfly fish. The Edge of the Reef Exhibits aims to recreate a habitat profile just as what you see in the shore of Hawaii. The Edge of the Reef offers exhibition on fishes that you can normally see when snorkeling under the water.

Waikiki Aquarium also provide exhibition on the Hawaiian monk seal at the Hawaiian Monk Seal Habitat. The Hawaiian monk seal is considered as an endangered marine animal in Hawaii. It lives in the water near uninhabited islands of Hawaii. By keeping the Hawaiian monk seals in the aquarium, the National Fisheries Service is able to maintain a steady number of the population. You can discover various types of pinnipeds at the aquarium. Tourists will have the opportunities to learn more about the latest monk seal research project. At the Ocean Aquaculture, you can view the Pacific Six Fingered Threadfin.  The local people also call the Pacific Six Fingered Threadfin Moi. It is a popular seafood dish in the restaurants at Hawaii. 

Waikiki Aquarium provides exhibition on various seahorse species. In the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands Exhibit, you can discover more than 7000 marine species. The area houses the Papahanaumokuakea Marine National Monument. Visitors will get the chance to see a large range of fishes and corals. The 4,000 gallons aquarium will exhibit various types of marine lives including table corals, masked angelfish and other fishes that are not commonly seen in the water of the main Hawaiian Islands.
