Tourist Information on Waimea Beach in North Shore Oahu

Waimea Beach is located about 3 miles north of the town of Haleiwa. Waimea Beach has gorgeous turquoise ocean water. In fact, it is one of the most beautiful beaches around the world. Millions of tourists come to Waimea Beach every year so it gets crowded very fast. If you are on vacation in Oahu, you should visit Waimea Beach. In the winter season, surfers will come to the beach to carry out surfing activities. The wave can reach as high as 30 foot during the winter season. The beach has been a popular surfing spot since the 1940s. Many tales of survival were based on Waimea Beach. During the 1943, Woody Brown and Dicky Cross have to paddle from Sunset Beach to this beach because of a large waves. They couldn’t make it ashore because of the violent shore breaks. Brown managed to get stranded on the shore while Cross drowned.  The shore break at Waimea Beach can be very violent during the winter. The waves can be as high as 20 feet when it forms a shore break. Bodysurfing and body boarding activities are not recommended at Waimea Beach.

Many people like to come to the beach to snorkel. You can snorkel at the inshore reef and explore the beautiful underwater creatures. Waimea Beach has plenty of white sand. If you don’t want to perform any recreation activity, you can spread your blanket on the beach and enjoy some snacks under the sun. Various kinds of facilities can be found at Waimea Beach including picnic tables, showers, public phones and etc. There are a few tourist attractions located near to Waimea Beach including Banzai Pipeline, Kawailoa Beach and Sunset Beach. Another nearby attraction is the Pupukea Beach Park. The Pupukea Beach Park covers an area of 1,800 acre.

Waimea Valley is located nearby to Waimea Beach. There are a large variety of flora and fauna at Waimea Beach. You will find all kinds of endangered plants at the valley. You should visit Waimea Valley if you like to explore the native plants in Hawaii. At the valley, there is a waterfall. You can also explore traditional ceremonial sites at the valley. There is a parking lot near to Waimea Beach. The parking lot will become full at the early hours. If you are driving to Waimea Beach, you should come at an extremely early hour so that you won’t be left without places to park your car. You can find grocery stores at Pupukea Road.
