Molokai offers many great camping destinations for campers. There are many parks that allow tourists to set up their camps. Some of the parks that allow camping in Molokai include One Alii Beach Park, Papohaku Beach Park, Pala’au State Park, Waialua Pavilion, and Molokai State Forest Reserve. One Alii Beach Park has a lot of open areas. There are a few picnic tables at the park. The south end of the shore has a large fishpond. Some of the facilities that you can find at the park include restrooms, pavilion and etc. If you want to camp at One Alii Beach Park, you can obtain a permit from the Maui County Parks & Recreation. It costs about $3 to obtain the camping permit. You can camp at the One Alii Park for up to 3 days.
Papohaku Beach Park is situated near to a white sand beach. Keawe trees surround the campground at Papohaku Beach Park. It is not recommended that you swim at the beach. It is a nice a sunny beach but it can get very windy occasionally.
Pala’au State Park is situated in the central region of Molokai. The park covers an area of 234 acres. It offers a beautiful overview of the Kalaupapa Peninsula. The campsites are surrounded with ironwood trees. The campsites are seldom crowded with people. If you don’t like to camp in a crowded site, Pala’au State Park will be best for you. Pala’au State Park is equipped with facilities such as pavilions, picnic tables and etc. While at the park, you can discover the Phallic Rock. The rock is a symbol of fertility. Legend claims that any woman who spends a night at the Phallic Rock will become pregnant.
Waialua Pavilion is a private camping facility situated east to Kaunakakai. The
Waialua Congregational Church operates the camping facility. If you like to camp in the middle of the jungle, you can visit the Molokai State Forest Reserve. Molokai State Forest Reserve is situated in the central park of Molokai. You can access the Waikolu Lookout with a four-wheel drive vehicle. There are no shops selling drinking water at Molokai State Forest Reserve. However, the site is equipped with many picnic facilities and restrooms. You can camp at the Molokai State Forest Reserve for up to 2 days. Before camping at the forest reserve, you have to obtain the permit.
