Most beaches in Molokai are accessible by the public. There are a number of beaches in Molokai including Papohahu Beach, Kepuhi Beach, Kawakiu Beach, Murphy Beach, and Sandy Beach. Papohahu Beach is located at the Papohahu Beach Park. It has the longest beach. The coastline of the beach is about 3 miles long. The width of the coastline is about 300 yards. From time to time, the wind from the west will blow against the sand and cause a sand storm. There are a few basic facilities at the Papohahu Beach including restrooms, showers, and picnicking facility. The tidal waves can reach a very tall height during the high surf seasons. Papohahu Beach is recommended for surfing, snorkeling and scuba diving.
Kepuhi Beach is a white sandy beach located on the west coast. The beach is known to have strong current so it is not safe for you to swim here. During the winter months, the waves will beat against the shore. The beach is suitable for ocean recreational activities such as body boarding and surfing. There are lots of corals and fishes at Kepuhi Beach. After you pass the coral, the ocean current will no longer be strong. You can start swimming from the left end of the beach. After that, you should quickly swim pass the coral. Once you swim pass the coral, you will reach the coral viewing area on the right.
