Any decent agent will ask to meet you face to face for an interview. This will give you a chance to get to know each other and to find out if the agent is able to fit your needs. Its also expected for the agent to ask for you to come in because this is how they make their money, off of commissions.
Realtors are supposed to act as their own agent and should look at your interests before their own. Of course they want to earn a commission off of selling you a home but they should be more determined to meet your expectations and being a part of helping you find what you need. If they seem as though they really care about your interests and as though they take their responsibility serious then they might be the right agent for you.
However, if they seem pushy and only in it for the money or as a salesperson instead of a realtor it may be time to move on to the next agent. You want to choose an individual based not only education and knowledge but also how they present themselves to you. Some agents may act reserved and listen attentively while others try to push you into choosing them right away. Choose the one who listens and answers any questions you have while taking in what it is you and your family need and want.
