Lihue is one of the sites where tourists can explore many different places. Lihue has a lot of tourist destinations including Wailua Falls, Kilohana Estate, Grove Farm Homestead Museum, and Kauai Museum. Wailua Falls is an 80-foot waterfall. Visitors can easily access the waterfall by going to the Wailua State River Park. The water will flow down into the pool below in 3 segments. The waterfall became famous after it was featured in the Fantasy Island TV show. A long time ago, the natives like to dive off the waterfall to prove their braveries. If you want to visit the Wailua Falls, you should come during the early morning hours. The trail that leads to the base of the waterfall is usually steep and slippery because of the heavy rain. At the bottom of the waterfall, you have to cross a river. It is not recommended that you travel down to the base, as it is dangerous.

Kilohana Estate is a large mansion open to the public for visitation. The estate covers over 27,000 acres. At the estate, there is a restaurant called Gaylord Restaurant. Gaylord Restaurant offers a variety of seafood. The average cost of dining at the restaurant is about $45. The restaurant offers meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You can take a train to reach the Kilohana Estate. Visitors can visit the house for free of charge. If you want, you can take a ride in the horse drawn carriage. The cost for taking a ride in the horse carriage is about $8 per person. You can take the sugar cane tour carriage as well. Many boutique stores and galleries are found at the Kilohana Estate.

A person named George N. Wilcox established Grove Farm Homestead Museum in the 1864. In 1978, the farm was converted into a museum to let people learn more about the family. Every part of the house is in original state. The staircase in the house is made from a type of wood called Koa wood. Some of the rooms you will find at the museum include teahouse, washhouse and etc. You ca participates in tour in between 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Kauai Museum features many Hawaiian artifacts that portray the historical events in Kauai. At the back of the Kauai Museum building, you will find the office that issues the permits for hiking and camping. The admission cost into the Kauai Museum is about $5 per adult and $3 per child.
