There are several steps to becoming a Hawaii real estate agent. You must be licensed in order to work for or as an agent, there are no ways around this. To perform any type of real estate transactions legally you must be able to present your license. In order to be eligible to receive your real estate license you must be over the age of eighteen, a high school graduate, and must be able to pass the written test that is administered by each state. Most colleges offer some type of course dealing with real estate.

 

In order to become a licensed professional real estate broker you must be able to be in this for the long haul, it can get time-consuming. The first step in obtaining your license is to find the name of your state's real estate board, this might be under real estate commission. There are different states that require different procedures in obtaining a real estate license, it would be best to do research on the state in which you would like to apply.

 

When you find the name of your local real estate board, give them a call or go into their office with a few questions that need to be answered. If there is any other education that you need before you can properly obtain your license. They will ask for proof of any classes or courses that is required, if you have not taken these classes they will ask you to do so before applying for your real estate license. These reports must be shown again during any renewal of your license, so it is best to keep these records in a safe place, a safe deposit box or a locked, fireproof file cabinet.

 

If there are any classes that you need to take in order to obtain the license, it would be in your best interest to go head and finish those courses accordingly. There might be a mandatory course later on that you will have to take to keep you up-to-date on the changes in the legal information of a professional real estate broker and procedures. This certificate from this course will also be required upon renewing or obtaining your real estate license.

 

Once you have obtained your real estate license, there will be an expire date in which you must renew by that date in order to stay current with the policies. It is quite simple to renew your license, you may do so by snail mail, online, or in person at your local real estate board. Forms that will be needed for regular or snail mail will be located on the government real estate site for your state. It is a quick and simple process to renew them, obtaining them, however, is a totally different concept.
