Home sellers have long been told that staging their Honolulu home properly will help to command a higher selling price.  But what happens if you can't afford a professional home stager to primp and preen the roof over your head? Fortunately there is good news for home sellers on a budget. Many of the techniques professional home stagers use are well within the reach of ordinary mortals. In fact many of the most effective techniques cost next to nothing making it possible to stage your home like a pro without breaking your budget.

One of the simplest and least expensive staging techniques is simply to clean every surface until it sparkles. Simply cleaning the interior and exterior of every window and door in the home can make the home look wonderful while leaving plenty of money in your pocket.  Simply invest in a powerful cleaning solution, a bucket, and a mop and bring along some old-fashioned elbow grease.

Be sure to include every surface in your cleaning crusade. The glass in the picture window should be shined and polished until it sparkles.  The front porch should be scrubbed and cleaned until the true color shines through. The front door should be thoroughly cleaned to provide a warm welcome for potential buyers.

Also be sure that all appliances in the home are sparkling clean and shiny. This applies even if those appliances are not being sold with the home. When touring the homebuyers will picture their own appliances in the kitchen, and providing a sparkling example will leave them with a good impression.

The same is true of all counter tops, cabinets and moldings. Everything potential buyers see should be immaculate. Sinks should be thoroughly scrubbed and they should retain not even the faintest touch of soap scum or other unsightly blemishes. All shelves, whether they are in the bathroom, the bedroom, and the kitchen or along the hallways, should be cleaned, scrubbed and polished.

And of course the walkways, driveway and sidewalks should all be clean and in good repair. Any broken accent lights should be replaced and everything should look bright and cheerful. Simply planting a few colorful flowers around the mailbox or along the driveway can have a dramatic impact on the overall look of the home.

When cleaning and prepping the interior of the home is sure to take the hallways and corridors into account as well. Nothing should be stored in the hallways; all clutter should be removed. The hallways should give buyers the impression of plenty of space.
