Honolulu Real Estate the jewel of the Pacific

Honolulu has been called the jewel of the Pacific, and for good reason. After flying over 2,000 miles of Pacific Ocean, the Honolulu visitor is presented with a shining white city alongside sparkling turquoise water.

Honolulu is located on the southeastern shores of Hawaii’s island of Oahu. The largest city in the state, it is also Hawaii’s capital.

Although nobody knows for sure, oral history tells us that the first Polynesians arrived on Oahu’s shores around 1100 A.D. In 1804, King Kamehameha moved his court from the Big Island to Waikiki, finally settling in 1809 in what we now know as downtown Honolulu.

Today, the city of Honolulu covers a large swath of the island, from Makapuu to Red Rock, the Koolau to the Pacific Ocean. Popular neighborhoods within the city include Waikiki, Kahala, Hawaii Kai and Manoa.

Recreation

The Honolulu resident is never at a loss for recreational activities. In close proximity to many beaches, residents enjoy surfing, swimming, diving, fishing, boating and water skiing. Hikers take on Diamond and Koko Head Craters.

Dining and Shopping

Honolulu is a foodie’s delight. Dine on French or Asian fusion cuisine at one of the city’s 5-Star restaurants or grab a quick plate lunch at one of the many small, local cafes.

Shoppers enjoy strolling the world’s largest open-air center, Ala Moana. This gigantic mall houses 290 stores including Nordstrom, Macy’s and Neiman Marcus. Other shopping centers in Honolulu include the Kahala Mall and Ward Centers.
