Oahu offers a lot of beautiful things in all aspects. Known as the ‘Gathering Place’, Oahu certainly lives up to the name. From the heiaus or the ancient Hawaiian temples and Petroglyphs, the native rock carvings to the modern buildings and establishments, Oahu certainly brings an interesting dynamic. Of all the Hawaiian Islands, it is the 3rd largest one. It is home to nearly 3-quarters of the state’s population.
Oahu is said to have originated in a single ‘hot spot’ in the earth’s crust. Then over millions and hundreds of years, the earth’s mantle slowly moved to the northwest of this hot spot, which created each island. For Oahu’s timeline, it is said that the island is about 4 million years old, and was created by two extinct volcanoes, known as Ko’olau and Wai’anae mountain ranges.
For the Oahu real estate market, there are some very diverse and affordable options. There are condos and town houses already available in the area. This is also true for single-family homes. The island has some dramatic and fantastic views of the beach.

As for the climate, Oahu predominately experiences the northeast trade winds. These trade winds cause the pleasant and moderate climate in the island even during the course of the hot summer months. These trade winds also offer perfect sailing conditions throughout the year. On the average, the temperatures is about 68 degrees F while the summer temperatures reaches up to 85 degrees F. Rainfall, on the other hand, averages for about 20-25 inches a year.
The beaches are definitely attractive for people who like to sunbathe on pristine white sand. There are over 112 miles of beaches to choose from in Oahu. You have the powerful winter waves on the North Shore and the gentle waters of Waikiki. There are a variety of beaches that will accommodate water activities that you would like to do. These water or beach activities are not just limited to sunbathing or swimming, you may also snorkel, kayak, surf or wind surf. The water temperatures here are from 75 to 80 degrees F all year round.
