On the south side of the Maui Meadows is the Kihei region. In the Kihei region, there is a beach that stretches for approximately 6 miles. You can enroll in surfing lessons at the Maui Wave Riders. Maui Wave Riders offers rental for all kinds of surfing gear. There are many opportunities to watch whales cavorting in the ocean. You can participate in whale watching tour organized by Kai Kanani Sailing. Whale watching tours are available from December through April every year. If you take part in the whale watching tour, you will surely be able to catch the whale sightings. The shallow water in the Maui coast is a breeding ground for humpback whales that are migrating during the winter. Most of the humpback whales that come to the Maui Meadows coast are from Alaska. The island of Molokini is located about 3 miles from Maui Meadows. Molokini is a popular bird sanctuary and snorkeling spot. You can dive into the water at Molokini coast to explore more than 250 species of fishes. Makena Beach State Park is situated near to Maui Meadows.
