Kawaihau is also known as the Coconut Coast and is located along the northeastern side of Kauai. It includes the area from Waipouli to Anahola and includes the towns of Kealia, Kapa’a, and Wailua. The area is primarily known for its beautiful, white beaches. Residents and tourists alike take advantage of the many water activities such as surfing and snorkeling. It is also a great area for just soaking up some sun. Locales like to take their families to Anahola beach on the weekend, and a great beach for surfers is Kealia Beach.
Wailua is a great area for outdoor activities. Hiking and biking are some favorites as well as kayaking down the Wailua River, which happens to be the only navigable river in all of Hawaii.
Beautiful scenery can be found in Kapa’a and includes Makaleha Mountain and Opaekaa Falls. Kawaihau also has plenty of other natural sceneries such as Opae Kalaole Falls, Puu Ehu Peak, and the Kealia and Moloaa Forest Preserves. Vacationers and also residents love to flock to these areas.
Kawaihau offers everything in terms of real estate. There is something in this area for just about everyone whether they are looking for a vacation home, rental property, or just a new home.
Someone seeking a condo would have the most luck in Kapa’a where these homes are most common and have a starting price of $127K. Those looking for a vacation home or a part time residence are most drawn to this area. Rental properties here have a very strong history. Islander on the Beach has a large price spectrum for those looking to purchase. The prices start at about $65K and go up from there depending on the view the buyer prefers. One-bedrooms start a little under $100K at Wailua beach, and two-bedrooms are available at Kawaihau Sports Villas at a starting price of almost $200K.
Condos in the area go up in price depending on the location, and the views that they provide. Waipouli Beach resort has studio units starting at $200K, and two-bedroom units between $400K and $2 million. Some of the more stylish condos in the area include Lae Nani and Pono Kai that have prices starting between $300K and $500K. People seeking true luxury in a condo should seek out Hale Awapuhi where condos can go up to $1.9 million.
As the views and locations improve, the prices go up. The Waipouli Beach Resort offers studio style units starting in the low $200s and two-bedroom units starting just under $400s and climbing to over $1 million. Other updated more stylish condos throughout the area include resorts like Lae Nani with condos starting in the upper $300s and Pono Kai starting in the mid $400s. If true luxury is the choice then the Hale Awapuhi is the way to go with condos priced at $1.9 million.
Single family homes are spread out across the area, and the average price in Kawaihai is $340K. Those starting at $200K are typically foreclosures or short sales and will need some work. These are found more in the Kapa’a area. Homes in Anahola, Moloaa, Kilauea, and Kealia are between $500K and $6 million.
