Real Estate In Kailua-Kona
The Kona Coast, which has long been associated with big fish and wonderful tasting coffee, are both found numerous times along this 70 mile stretch of coastline.
Big Island is comprised of numerous communities that are devoted to fishing and farming. The community basks in the sun on the leeward side of the island - the entire island has amazing geography and a diverse climate. The commercial center of the area is Kailua-Kona, a small, tranquil fishing town which has been transformed into a tourist mecca. The geography of the area varies wildly depending upon where you are on the island. One minute you may be in thick forest while the next you will find yourself on the gorgeous beach. Further inland you will find the coffee fields and the obligatory artist village of Holualoa. As you venture into the higher elevations you will find yourself entangled in the beautiful native forests which contain thousands of species of birds, some of which are on the verge of extinction. Seven miles south of the community center you will find the resort of Keauhou, which borders the Pacific Ocean. Here you will find suburban style homes, multimillionaire retirees and an enormous shopping center.
The literal meaning of Kona in Hawaiian is "leeward side", which means sunny every day of the year. This area is a hotspot for tourists and those who want to experience the luxury of Hawaii. There are many value priced condos, scatted among the older hotels and bed and breakfasts. You will also find two world class resorts, the Kona Village the Four Seasons of Hualalai. These resorts are hotspots for the rich to spend their time.
Further away from the bustling town of Kailua you will find the South Kona Coast, where you will find numerous coffee farmers, nut growers and people who want to escape to a more peaceful type of lifestyle. The South Kona Coast is littered with numerous bays and inlets, giving the area its unique geographical look. When you stay in this area you will most likely be staying in a bed and breakfast, as there are few motels and condos to rent. This area is a great place to stay for those that desire a more peaceful side of Hawaii. You are still within biking distance of the beaches and attractions of Kailua.
