If resell value will be an important factor when purchasing a new home you should avoid purchasing one of the larger models of home in area. The houses around you can play a huge part in determining market value of the house your interested in. For example if the houses near you are much smaller then they could be a downfall for appreciation on your house. Now on the other hand lets say you buy one of the smaller houses in the neighborhood or even a medium sized one with all of the other houses being bigger and more expensive this will add value to your home.

You will need to decide what size of house you actually need versus what your wants are. Purchasing a house with what you need in a prestigious neighborhood will often provide more of a financial stability than if you were to purchase a house that you want in a less desired area.

More common factors that play in the size of the house that you purchase is the amount of people that will be living in the home as well as the uses of the home. An individual or single couple may not require the size of house that a family of 5 or larger made need.
